Jesuit Characteristics
The Physical Education Department promotes pupil development in this important aspect of College life in the following ways:
To encourage our pupils to achieve Magis in their physical activities by working to the
“Greater Glory of God”
The Ratio Studiorum recommends competition, normally between groups rather than individuals, as an effective stimulus to academic growth
A Jesuit school values the stimulus of competitive games, it urges students to distinguish themselves by their ability to work together, to be sensitive to one another, to be committed to the service of others. Physical Education has a major role to play in the development of “Men for others”
The school was founded in Stamford Hill, South Tottenham in 1894 and moved to its current site on Turkey Street in 1968. The College is in the Trusteeship of the Society of Jesus and is proud to be a Jesuit school.
Did you know that St.Ignatius was once home to one of the world's most famous film directors? The College has a long tradition of teaching exceptional individuals.
