Global Partnership
“Wherever in the Church, even in the most difficult and extreme fields… there have been, and there are, Jesuits.” (Pope Paul VI).
Dodoma, Tanzania
For some time now we have been considering establishing a link with St Ignatius School in Dodoma in Tanzania. During the recent summer holidays Fr Moffatt and his successor Fr Byron travelled with Mr Hunt our Head of Geography to Tanzania in order to explore the possibilities, and we will be putting the partnership on a more formal footing in the near future.
The Jesuit Province of East Africa built the school only four years ago, with some financial support from the Our Lady of Peace Foundation in Canada. St Ignatius, Dodoma is an English medium school, which means that all the lessons are conducted in English. Jonathan Taitt, a recent Old Ignatian from Enfield, is already working as a volunteer there, teaching English (including teaching the teachers !) and is in charge of the school library.
