Uniform and Appearance

All pupils must wear the St Ignatius College school uniform and PE and Games kit on school days, special functions, Saturday detentions and representative games. A high standard of personal appearance and cleanliness is expected. Items are specified on the lists below:

Jewellery should not be worn. Badges should not be worn with the exception of those which are officially authorised.

Hairstyles should be conventional, tidy and in keeping with the formality of the school uniform. Hair should not be too short or too long. Extreme or unusual styles including shaved areas or highlights are not allowed.

St Ignatius College Uniform

• Black blazer with College badge and tie
• Plain, soberly tailored dark grey or black trousers
• Plain black polished shoes (not boots or canvas/trainers) with grey, black or navy socks
• Plain white shirt
• Pullovers, if worn, must be plain, light grey and V-necked
• Outdoor coats must be plain, navy or black and compatible with the school uniform. They must be long enough to cover blazers. Hooded sports tops, coats with elasticated waistbands (Ski-type or “bomber jackets” etc) and fleeces, along with motifs, are not acceptable
• Black or Navy shoe laces
• Black leather belts only
• No headwear (baseball caps etc.)

PE Kit

• Plain white sports shirt / T shirt or vest
• Plain white sports shorts
• White ankle socks
• Plain white trainers or plimsolls
• Swimming trunks
• Towel

Games Kit

• College black/red reversible Rugby jersey
• Plain black sports shorts
• Plain red football socks
• Soccer or Rugby boots
• Towel
• Shin guards
• Mouth guard

PE, swimming and games kit should not be left in classrooms or lockers overnight. Kit should not be loaned to other pupils.

All articles of clothing must be clearly marked with the owner’s name.
