Trips to Parliament

This term we were fortunate to bring two trips to Parliament. 

In September Years 10 and 12 visited where they watched a film about democracy and toured the historic building and in December Years 8 and 9 visited, taking part in a workshop where they learned about petitions and they also toured the site.

These trips supported students' learning in Magis about democracy, UK governance and law making as well as learning about how the building has been used from a royal palace through to its current use.

Jatian has made the most of his work experience week at Coutts, exploring the bank's operations to building his understanding of professional responsibilities and workplace etiquette. His positive attitude and commitment to learning made a lasting impression.

Joseph worked on a small design project and gained first-hand experience of the profession by attending a construction site visit and sitting in on an internal office meeting. Thank you to Aukett Swanke for providing such an engaging and inspiring placement.

China Trip: Day 6 🇨🇳 Post 2/2 Following lunch, students took part in a martial arts lesson in Chinese! They learned how to use nunchucks and explored the role of martial arts in Chinese culture before enjoying sport with their language partners.     Video

China Trip: Day 6 🇨🇳 Post 1/2 Our day started with breakfast, followed by two lessons. The students first took part in a vocabulary development lesson before developing their knowledge of Chinese characters.

We are incredibly proud of Kevin for representing St Ignatius at the Jack Petchey Speak Out Grand Final this week. Winning the regional competition is fantastic but to make it all the way to the Grand Final really is an outstanding achievement! Well done!

China Trip: Day 5 🇨🇳 Post 3/3 After Dinner, the groups participated in a Sino-British Friendship Social Evening. Year 9s were grouped together with their Language partners and completed their activities in Chinese. It was an enjoyable evening!
