Covid-19 Home Testing arrangements for Students

Who is being tested and why?

We have now completed our in-school testing programme, with each consenting student completing 3 Lateral Flow tests over the last two weeks. The government has now asked for this testing to continue at home.

Testing is important because students could be carrying the virus and may spread it to others. Testing all staff and students of secondary and above (11+) without symptoms will support the education sector to continue to operate.

Simple and quick tests using antigen Lateral Flow Devices (LFD) enable the rapid testing of staff and students, from their home, without the need for a laboratory. This testing will help to break chains of transmission.

Home Test Kits

Students have been issued with home test kits containing 7 tests. This is enough to cover them for the last 2 weeks of term and the Easter Holidays. They have also been issued with an updated step-by-step guide booklet.  An electronic version of the guide and the privacy notice can be found below. Please support your son/daughter to complete the test by watching the NHS guidance video on how to complete the test at home.

ImportantThese tests are only for the use of the student assigned the kit, they should not be taken by anybody else.

Recording/Reporting Test Results

Covid testPlease can students complete their home tests on Sunday and Wednesday Evenings. Make sure you allow at least 30 minutes after eating. Regardless of the result, please complete the online NHS Track and Trace report using the QR code/ ID number on the test kit you have been issued.

What if I record a Positive Test Result?

If your son/daughter tests positive they should not come into school, the next day. You should inform the College via the absence line.

(01992 717835 ext 249 or email attendance@st-ignatius.enfield.sch.uk)

If your son/daughter receives a positive Home Test result you should book a confirmatory PCR test. We would advise visiting a community or drive through test site as this is the quickest way to get tested. If the PCR test result is negative, they may return to school.

What if I record a Void Test Result?

If your son/daughter tests void they should complete another LFR Test immediately. If the second LFR Test comes up void again, they should not come into school, the next day. You should inform the College via the absence line.

(01992 717835 ext 249 or email attendance@st-ignatius.enfield.sch.uk)

If your son/daughter receives 2 consecutive void Home Test results you should book a confirmatory PCR test. We would advise visiting a community or drive through test site as this is the quickest way to get tested. If the PCR test result is negative, they may return to school.

If you have any concerns or need any further guidance or assistance or require further test kits, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards

Mr D Smith
